Safeguarding
Ludgershall Castle Primary is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
We will fulfil our local and national responsibilities as laid out in the following key documents:
- Working Together to Safeguard Children
- Keeping Children Safe in Education
- The procedures of the Wiltshire Safeguarding Vulnerable People Partnership
- Information Sharing: Advice for Practitioners Providing Safeguarding Services
The aim of this is to ensure:
- All our pupils are safe and protected from harm.
- Safeguarding procedures are in place to help pupils to feel safe and learn to stay safe.
- Adults in the school community are aware of the expected behaviours and the school’s legal responsibilities in relation to safeguarding and child protection.
Please find below our policies relating to safeguarding, including:
Online Safety Policy, Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and Whistleblowing Policy.
We have a dedicated Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Mrs Warren, and three Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs), Mrs Lowe, Mrs Mckeown and Mrs Linforth, who oversee all safeguarding matters across the school. They are always available to offer guidance, listen to concerns, and take action where necessary.
If you ever have a concern about a child’s safety or wellbeing, please do not hesitate to contact us:
Phone: 01264 790375
Email: admin@ludgershallcastle.wilts.sch.uk
Together, we can ensure that every child in our school feels supported, valued, and safe.
Early Help
We place a strong emphasis on early intervention in order to help ensure that issues do not escalate and become more complex or difficult to manage. All school staff are trained to recognise when families may benefit from Early Help. The school works in collaboration with families to improve outcomes for children, signposting them to a range of support available if needed.

Operation Encompass
In the event of any of our pupils experiencing or witnessing domestic violence or abuse, Ludgershall Castle Primary receives information from Wiltshire Police.
This information is shared as part of Wiltshire Police’s ‘Operation Encompass’ programme, aiming to ensure schools can offer support to these pupils when needed. Wiltshire Police aim to share this information with us before the next school day, following a domestic incident, so that we can be ready to support the pupil on their arrival to school. Wiltshire Police also confirm with school whether or not the pupil is aware of the incident, so that decisions can be made around whether or not explicit or more discreet support can be offered.
