Transition Information
We recognise the unique experiences and challenges that service life can bring, including frequent transitions between homes and schools. Our staff have experience supporting children through these changes and are dedicated to ensuring that every transition is as smooth, welcoming, and positive as possible. Through our service-specific induction and transition processes, we aim to help children and families feel connected, supported, and confident from the moment they join our school community.

We understand that children from military families often experience more school transitions than their peers, and we recognise the important role each school plays in supporting a child’s educational journey. At Ludgershall Castle Primary School, we are committed to working closely with families and previous settings to ensure continuity, minimise disruption, and help every child feel settled and supported as quickly as possible.
In 2026, we introduced our Transition Information document with a particular focus on supporting service families. Using this document helps us to gather valuable information about each child’s academic progress, learning experiences, wellbeing, and any successful support strategies already in place. By sharing this information early, we can better understand each child as an individual, reduce unnecessary repetition in learning, and provide appropriate support from the very start of their learning journey with us.
The form is usually completed in partnership with a child’s previous school or setting, although families are also welcome to contribute information to help us build the fullest possible picture of their child’s needs and strengths. We believe that strong relationships between home and school are key to creating successful transitions and helping children continue to make positive academic and emotional progress.
If you would like to request a paper copy of the Transition Information document, please contact our school office, who will be happy to help.
